Souvenir yarn

My lovely friend Karen is visiting again!

This time she's here for business, but with enough flexibility as to have some personal time mixed in. And hopefully she finds staying with us more fun than a random hotel in Wimbledon somewhere! DH has been working some later hours for work too, so it's been nice for me to have some knit and natter company at home in the evenings.

On Sunday we headed up to Islington and Loop. Shockingly, we never did make it there when Karen was visiting back in October!

Right before we left the flat, Karen was admiring my Honey Cowl. I told her how easy the pattern was (and free!) and that it only took two skeins of DK weight yarn. Perfect for lovely hand-dyed yarns, and of which I could introduce her to some unique-to-the-UK ones at Loop. The seed was planted...

Nice to know my enabling skills are still intact!

As we ooh-ed and ahh-ed our way through the fabulous yarns that Loop always has on offer (talking through which ones were British-based or American imports, and so on), Karen found some gorgeous skeins dyed by Ce at The Uncommon Thread. The colourway was aptly named Lust.

And since my own honey cowl has been looking rather worse for the wear (as in, lots and LOTS of wear!), one of those new Lilly Brush tools came home with me. I'll test it out and let you know the results!
